So, I'm in Taiwan
Taipei hosts some incredible food and friendly people. Wasn’t a big fan of the butts, brains or asparagus drink, but there are so many sweet and soft meals to enjoy the choice is overwhelming. The street pork buns were what I imagine clouds should taste like!
The ceramics museum in Yingge is amazing once you accept the brutalist architecture. A detailed and truely inspired exhibition of all things clay, making, glazing and art.
They even hosted the 5th International Coffee Cup Competition! A Mad Hatter inspired set took out gold prize!
In particular Chen Cheung-Hsun work was inspired -
“Humans are like a magnifying glass, if you keep moving around, no focus, no intent, you can never create a spark”
Jiuffen revealed some amazing views and local artists. The ceramic studio was something every potter dreams of. It was hard to imagine someone get’s to sit at that wheel every day, with the light streaming in from the mountains and create their art.
Teapot mountain was a little further up the mountain and was overseen by impressive temple with hand made tiles.
Today I landed in Sun Moon Lake. The photos don’t do it justice. As a photographer and painter, I was panicked deciding which instrument to pick up first, the camera or the brush. As the sun sets, the clouds roll in across purple skies and aqua water. The sunrise is just as spectacular.
Let’s see what tomorrow brings!
